The company’s origins trace back to the 1920s, when it was founded as James Archer and Son Ltd. In 1941, the previous owner’s father began working for the firm before serving in World War II from 1944 to 1946. Upon returning, he rejoined the company, eventually becoming the main foreman in the early 1950s, managing a team of 12 craftsmen.

When Mr. Archer retired in 1974, the father took over the business, continuing its legacy of quality metalwork. In 1977, his son joined him after working at D.C. Thomson for four years, ensuring that the family tradition of blacksmithing lived on.
